BLECH!
Addendum to Crankpot: Cranberry Crockpot Chicken was AWFUL. The recipe has now been resigned to the recycle bin. D didn't even take the leftovers for lunch! That guy rarely complains about my cooking and will eat whatever is put in front of him, so for him to leave the CCC behind means he is making a very big statement. Additionally, he left the M. Croquepotte "soaking" in the sink. He conscientiously washed every other dish, so scrubbing M. C's stinking innards is obviously my punishment for serving such a horrendous meal.
M. Croquepotte is going back where he belongs - THE BASEMENT. And I, my friends, am going back to using the stove.

I agree with Mrs. S. In time, you will come to love your crockpot - don't let one little (okay, major) disappointment send you running for the hills.
BTW, the beans were still HARD after three days of cooking, so I think there was something wrong with the crockpot element. It was an old hand-me-down, perhaps for obvious reasons... YOUR crockpot sounds like a beautiful creature :)
It's simply testing you Kim! You must give it another shot, do not let the crockpot WIN dammit!
Any recipe named Cranberry Crockpot something is CLEARLY gonna be gross!!!
Lotsa other crockpot wonders to be had, though. I know ya hate chicken, but it cooks nicely with some carrots and potatoes (said they Shirley does) in there. Don't give up!

Seriously, this is not my first attempt at Crockpotting. EVERY time I try something, it just tastes blechy. I will give Jaime's pulled pork recipe a go, but if that doesn't work, M. C is up for grabs!
Kim please don't do anything without sleeping on it first. Crockpots are one of the best inventions ever invented. Try a really nice beef stew in it....mmmmm...good. Give it another try and see what happens. You will be so glad you did...I promise!

BTW Susan, if the beans were hard I have one question....Did you salt them before they were cooked? That could have been part of the problem also.
L
No, I didn't salt the beans before I cooked them. Don't recall ever having to do that before!
Doing a roast in the slow cooker is easy-peasy. Just put in the roast, add a little water (no more than 1/2 cup) and put it on slow for 8-10 hours. Yummy! Did it myself just this week :)
